• The Great Gatecrash: While only 11,000 official invitations were sent out, nearly 30,000 people flooded the park. Expert counterfeiters had a field day with the tickets, and many uninvited guests were seen using ladders to literally scale the perimeter fences.
• The High-Heel Trap: It was a blistering 101°F (38°C) that day. Because the asphalt on Main Street had been poured just the night before, it hadn't fully cured. As the sun beat down, women's high heels began sinking into the melting ground, leaving many guests literally stuck to the pavement.
• The Pepsi Conspiracy: A local plumbers' strike left Walt with a tough choice: he only had enough water to power either the toilets or the drinking fountains. He chose the toilets (a wise, if smelly, decision). However, thirsty guests—finding the fountains dry—concluded it was a devious plot to force them to buy expensive Pepsi drinks.
• The Sinking Steamboat: The Mark Twain Riverboat was so dangerously overloaded with people that it began to list and take on water, splashing over the deck and forcing guests to scramble to the other side to keep it from capsizing.
