The Day the King of the Lizards Was Unearthed

On August 12, 1990, history got a little bit prehistoric in the best way possible. While exploring the cliffs near Faith, South Dakota, paleontologist Sue Hendrickson stumbled upon what would become the most complete and largest Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton ever discovered [2, 4, 11]. Named 'Sue' in her honor, this fossilized celebrity is over 40 feet long and 13 feet tall at the hips, proving that even 67 million years later, the T. rex still knows how to make a grand entrance! It is a fun reminder that while we are busy with our modern lives, the ground beneath our feet is hiding some truly massive, toothy secrets.
