The Day the Internet Said 'LO'
Did you know that October 29 is celebrated as International Internet Day? [8] While we now use the web for everything from streaming movies to arguing with strangers, the very first message ever sent between two computers occurred on October 29, 1969 [4]. Researchers at UCLA attempted to send the word 'LOGIN' to a computer at Stanford. They managed to type the 'L' and the 'O' before the system promptly crashed! [4] It was a humble, glitchy beginning for the technology that would eventually change the world forever. So, the next time your Wi-Fi acts up, just remember: the internet has been 'crashing' on October 29 since the very beginning!
